St. Petersburg Lighthouse Museum

Of the present situation, Kirill Razumov writes: "The Fort is located on an island in the Gulf of Finland, 30 km from St.Petersburg, but connected with the mainland by the St.Petersburg Ring Road, so it is very easy to come here by car or bus. From St.Petersburg downtown it takes about 50 min to reach the Fort. I work here in the Yacht Club and travel here and back every day, even now, when everything is covered by ice and snow.

"We also have here the border control point for private leisure boats, so every yacht, coming to Petersburg, must come to the Fort for border & customs procedures. Unfortunately, we do not have many yachts from Great Britan or other European countries. I am trying to change the situation by spreading information about Fort and Yacht Club by all possible means..."

Музей начинается с любопытства: людям интересны маяки – они привлекают своей стойкостью и представляются символами надежды. Чуть больше года назад двое офицеров-гидрографов Михаил и Владимир сделали невозможное – собрали коллекцию экспонатов, рассказывающих об истории маячного дела, составили маршрут экскурсии и стали дарить людям свет маяков. Прошел год: экспозиция постоянно пополняется, команда музея растет, рождаются новые идеи. Совсем недавно в музей приехал долгожданный экспонат - солнечный клапан из Владивостока, чуть раньше коллеги из Москвы передали для коллекции музея немецкий трофейный фонарь, а пока мы писали эту статью, наш друг художник смастерил для музея модель древнего маяка.

Музей удивляет и становится открытием для каждого гостя. Каждый находит здесь то, что способно влюбить в маяки. Кто-то удивляется богатству истории освещения, применяемого на маяках. Кто-то восхищается старинными линзами Френеля, напоминающими произведения искусства. Кто-то узнает о профессии служителя маяка и начинает грезить о жизни в море. Каждый гость выходит из музея чуточку похожим на маяк – с желанием всегда светить людям!

The museum begins with curiosity: people are interested in lighthouses - they attract their steadfastness and appear as symbols of hope. Just over a year ago, two hydrograph officers Mikhail and Vladimir did the impossible - they collected a collection of artifacts telling about the history of lighthouses, made up the route of the excursion and began to give people light beacons. A year has passed: the exposition constantly replenishes, the museum team grows, new ideas are born. Most recently, a long-awaited exhibit arrived in the museum - a solar valve from Vladivostok, earlier colleagues from Moscow donated a German trophy lantern to the collection of the museum, and while we wrote this article our friend the artist made a model of an ancient lighthouse for the museum.

The museum surprises and becomes an opening for every guest. Everyone finds here something that can fall in love with lighthouses. Someone is surprised at the richness of the history of lighting used on lighthouses. Someone admires the ancient Fresnel lenses, reminiscent of works of art. Someone learns about the profession of the lighthouse attendant and begins to dream of living in the sea. Each guest leaves the museum a bit like a lighthouse - with a desire to always shine people!

Museo alkaa uteliaisuus: kiinnostuneiden ihmisten majakoita - ne vetää sen vastustuskykyä ja edustaa toivon symboli. Hieman yli vuosi sitten, kaksi upseeria hydrografi Mihail Vladimir tehneet mahdottomasta - kerätä kokoelma näyttelyesineitä kuvaavat historian majakat, teimme kiertue reitti ja alkoi antaa ihmisille loistoa. Vuosi on kulunut: käsikirjassa päivitetään jatkuvasti, museo joukkue kasvaa, uusia ideoita syntyy.
